Sunday School
Children are treasured at Mount Calvary! We seek to nurture the faith of children through creative and engaging learning experiences, and trusted personal relationships. We want kids to love and trust God and be excited to discover how God is active in their lives.
Preschoolers age 3 through Kindergarten attend creative classes in the “Workshop Rotation Model.” Children meet in the Preschool area (Old Church Basement) for a large group time of singing. Children are divided into color groups (classes) and move to a teaching area for Bible lessons taught through art, storytelling, cooking, science, theater and games.
First-Third graders meet in the Fellowship Hall for a large group opening of music. Fourth-Sixth graders meet in classrooms for small group time. Children are divided into classes by grades for active and engaging lessons in the “Workshop Rotation Model.”
Children study one unit for five weeks, rotating to a different workshop each week, and learning through different strategies—art, cooking, storytelling, drama, theater, computer and Bible skills/games. Repetition enables children to dig deeper into the story and reinforce memory. Parents pick up children from a different workshop every Sunday. Pick up rooms are clearly marked on the lower level bulletin boards and colored flags and grade level flags are attached to the room the children are in. Parents and other loving adults/youth are teachers and guides.
