Transition Task Force:  Final Report

During worship on Sunday, July 15th, the Transition Task Force presented both a summary of the Strategic Recommendations and a Vision for the Role of Associate Pastor.   A video is and the materials are available below.

As part of its work, the transition task force uses multiple sources of information to discern where God is at work in our congregation and neighborhood, and where God is inviting Mount Calvary to join God's mission.  

  • Our Congregation/Mount Calvary

    Through the Congregational Vitality Project (an effort of the ELCA), Mount Calvary conducted a survey of 227 people who are part of the life of Mount Calvary.  This represents about 70% of those who worship on an average Sunday and 25% of those who are a part of Mount Calvary of all ages.  

    The survey is intended to be a current snapshot; a picture of where we are right now as a Mount Calvary community. 

  • Our Neighborhood/Demographics

    Listening to the changes and needs of our neighborhood is one way we discern where God may be calling us. 

    Through the mission support of congregations like Mount Calvary, the St Paul Area Synod of the ELCA is able to provide access to demographic studies and tools.  The blue shape represents the majority of those currently part of Mount Calvary.

About the Transition Task force

In order to prepare for calling an Associate Pastor and to update Mount Calvary's strategic plan, the Mount Calvary Church Council formed a Transition Task Force in the Spring of 2018.   

The Transition Task had three primary tasks:

  1. Discern the current needs of the community and congregation, as well as where God is calling Mount Calvary to join in God's work in the world.
  2. Equip the to-be-formed Call Committee for the Associate Pastor with a vision for the call (role and responsibilities), the Ministry Site Profile (description of Mount Calvary) and supporting material. 
  3. Recommend to church council updates and revisions to the current strategic plan and priorities, including staffing and organizational options.
