Mount Calvary partners with a number of local and global missions and organizations. Our approach extends beyond our walls to ensure our community is being cared for and served.

Local & Global Mission Partners

Local Partners

  • The Dakota Alano Society, Inc was founded in 1978 to serve the needs of men and women who are recovering from the effects of alcohol and drug abuse. Dakota Alano provides space for Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, and ACOA/ACA and hosts at least one meeting every day of the week. If you are struggling with alcohol or drug addiction, or suffering because a loved one is addicted, please reach out to the Dakota Alano Society, where you can find others who can help you on the road to recovery.

  • If you or someone you know is in need of shelter in Dakota County, please call 651-319-2153.

For more information visit Dakota County’s Housing Services page.

  • In 2005, Mount Calvary began what is now known as The Open Door as the Eagan Resource Center in the church parsonage as a food shelf and referral resource center. What started as a service to 38 families has quickly become over 450 families and the largest food shelf in Dakota County.

In 2009, the Eagan Resource Center became its own legal, non-profit entity. While still located in the parsonage, the ERC partnered with volunteers, faith communities, schools, organizations, and businesses to support those in need and to eliminate hunger in Dakota County.

In 2011, the resource center expanded to serve the Lakeville community and was renamed the Eagan Lakeville Resource Center.

In March of 2014, the Eagan Resource Center was renamed The Open Door and continues to provide valuable services to the surrounding communities at their new location now all under one roof.

We hold collections throughout the year and alway collect paper bags as they go through over 2,000 bags each week to serve 400+ families. You can drop off bags whenever you are at Mount Calvary either on the carts at the bottom of the stairs or leave them at the Welcome Desk. One of our staff members or wonderful volunteers will make sure they get to The Open Door each week.

For more information, visit The Open Door website or call 651-688-3189.

  • We hold a school supply drive each August.

  • IAFR - Jonathan House provides shelter for asylum seekers in St. Paul, MN. Learn more at https://www.iafr.org/project/jonathan-house.

  • Program where staff or volunteers interact with people who live on the street, build relationships, try to identify immediate needs and provide information about longer-term support services. Learn more at www.allyservices.net/programs.

  • Quilts are the most useful and universal item at the time of a disaster. Quilters meet at Mount Calvary during the program year on Thursdays from 10am-2pm to assemble quilts for local and global missions.

Come as often and as long as you can. No special qualifications are needed. One of the Lutheran World Relief quilters said, “If you can tie your shoes you can quilt.” The quilters have supplies ready for assembly.

To read about how quilts are made, used, and distributed you can visit Lutheran World Relief’s website.

  • In 2004 Mount Calvary became a companion Congregation to Ipalamwa, a rural village church in the hill country of Tanzania. Members from our congregation have made several trips to Ipalamwa and hope to continue doing so in the future to strengthen our relationship. We have also sponsored Iringa Hope, a US, non-profit corporation dedicated to raising the standard of living in rural Tanzania through small loans to farmers and shopkeepers. Rural Tanzania is one of the poorest regions in the world.
