Join Us in Supporting Our Youth's Summer Adventures!

In mid-July, 3 adults and 11 high school youth will travel to New Orleans, LA, to participate in the ELCA National Youth Gathering. Just a few weeks later, 22 children and youth (and 1 adult) will travel to Luther Crest Bible Camp in Alexandria, MN, for a week of summer camp. Both immersive experiences can be life-changing, a place of deepening faith and relationships, and an opportunity to build our faith community here at Mount Calvary.

The gift of these experiences is invaluable, but they don’t come free. The cost of the ELCA Youth Gathering Trip to New Orleans is around $1400 for each student between registration, airfare, transportation, hotel, and meals. Most of our campers going to Luther Crest cost $725 for the week. (Our high school students will go to Luther Crest for free this year with support from LCBC’s annual fund.)

Our fundraising goal is to meaningfully support our students going to Luther Crest Bible Camp and the ELCA Youth Gathering. Last year through fundraising efforts and a few individuals’ generous gifts, we were able to raise nearly $7,000 to support our families. Each year is different, but we invite you to support them in whatever way you are able.

Here's how you can get involved:

  • T-Rex Cookies: Treat yourself to a delicious cookie every Wednesday outside the Fellowship Hall. Each $7 cookie directly contributes $3.75 towards our summer trips.

  • Handmade Goods: Discover beautiful creations by the Mount Calvary Quilters every Sunday in the Fireside Room. From placemats to quilts, with prices ranging from $20 to $60, every purchase supports our youth's summer adventures.

Fundraising Details:

  • Equitable Distribution: Funds raised at Mount Calvary will be distributed proportionally among attendees of both trips.

  • Student Efforts: Our high school students heading to New Orleans are actively fundraising. From bagging groceries at Cub Foods to hosting a Culver’s night, writing fundraising letters, and possibly selling car wash tickets, every effort directly offsets the costs of their trip.

Your support, whether through purchasing cookies or handmade goods, or simply spreading the word, is invaluable in ensuring our youth have access to these life-changing experiences. Thank you for being a part of their journey!
