Baptisms

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
— Matthew 28:19

Embracing God’s Gift of Grace

At Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, baptism holds a central place in our faith as Lutheran Christians. It's a sacrament deeply rooted in tradition, dating back to when Jesus commanded His disciples to baptize. Through the combination of water and the Word, God bestows upon us a profound gift. In baptism, God forgives our sins and offers us the promise of eternal life. It is here that our faith journey begins, as we are lovingly claimed by God and welcomed into the family of faith.

Baptism for All Ages

We firmly believe that baptism is for people of all ages, from infants to adults. Faith is a gift from God, and age is no barrier to receiving this precious gift. In the case of infants and young children, the commitment of parents or guardians to nurture and guide the child in their faith journey is an integral part of the baptismal service.

Baptism Guidelines

To ensure a meaningful and smooth baptismal experience, we kindly request that you adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Submission of Baptism Form: Please complete and return the baptism form to our office at least two weeks prior to the scheduled baptism date. Once the form is received, we will email you to verify that the information is correct and that it has been received.

  • Capturing the Moment: You are welcome to take pictures and videos during the baptismal service, provided that flash photography is not used. Our pastors will also be delighted to pose for photographs with you and your loved ones after the service.

  • Arrival Time: On the day of the baptism, please arrive 20 minutes prior to the service so that the pastors can review any necessary information for parents/sponsors.

Scheduling a baptism

Baptisms can be scheduled on most Sundays throughout the year, as well as during any of our regular services. However, please note that there are certain services when the addition of a baptism may not be feasible. These include Palm Sunday, Easter, Confirmation/Reformation Sunday, All Saints' Sunday, and Christmas Eve.

If you desire a more private baptism or have specific preferences, our pastors are flexible and available to make alternate arrangements.

To inquire about scheduling a baptism, please complete the linked form below at least two weeks before your intended baptism date. Your completed form will be forwarded to our church office and our pastors, who will reach out to you promptly to discuss dates and provide further details.

We look forward to celebrating this sacred moment with you and your family, embracing the gift of baptism and God's boundless grace together. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out to our office.
