From April 26 through July 12, 2026, meeting select Sundays after church to connect with others doing this course.

Led by Pastor Kelli Weiss & Cari Larson | 12 Weeks

Explore and unblock your creativity. No artistic experience required! Using Julia Cameron’s “The Artist's Way — A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity,” this group combines independent work (daily journaling, weekly reading, one creative activity per week) with 5 Sunday gatherings over 12 weeks to share progress, struggles, and joys. Need help purchasing the book? Just ask Pastor Kelli!

From Pastor Kelli: “The author draws on spiritual practices to unblock the creativity within us. Each week will focus on a different chapter and include daily journaling and setting aside a little time to dedicate to yourself. You do not have to be perfect about this, but I do want you to know that it requires a bit more of you than just occasional reading. :-)”

Created in God's Image: the Beauty of Diversity

A Six-Week Sermon Series | May 31 to July 5
Sundays at 9:30am | Mount Calvary Lutheran Church

What does it mean to be made in the image of God? And what does that tell us about the beauty, richness, and gift of human diversity?

This summer, we're devoting six intentional Sundays to exploring that question together. As a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) congregation, Mount Calvary has made a deep commitment to celebrating diversity not just in words, but in worship, in community, and in action. This series is our chance to live that commitment out loud.

Each week will feature music from "Singing in Community," a collection of paperless, oral-tradition worship music drawn from traditions around the world. Learning music by listening rather than reading requires us to rely on each other in a new way. And isn't that exactly what celebrating diversity asks of us?

Each Sunday, you'll also be invited to contribute to a shared community art project. A canvas, paint, supplies, and a creative prompt will be waiting for you after worship. Come make something beautiful together.

Join us. All are welcome. Every single one of you.

WEEK 1 | Sunday, May 31 | Holy Trinity Sunday

We begin with the foundation of our faith: the Triune God, three persons and yet one God. If we are created in the image of the Trinity itself, are we not naturally blessed by diversity? What does it mean to be made in the image of a God who is, by nature, a community?

Readings: Genesis 1:1-27a

WEEK 2 | Sunday, June 7 | Graduation Sunday

We celebrate our graduating seniors and the years of love, formation, and faith that brought them here. How does a congregation benefit from celebrating these years of loving and forming our youngest members? How do we experience the diverse nature of God by caring for and learning from our youth?

Readings: Mark 10:13-16 | 1 Timothy 4:12

WEEK 3 | Sunday, June 14 | Pride Sunday

We celebrate and affirm our LGBTQIA+ siblings and the ways their presence has blessed the life of this congregation. How have our Queer siblings taught us about being made in God's image? How can we be better allies, supporters, and beloved community in these times?

Readings: Acts 2:26-39 | Psalm 139:13-18

WEEK 4 | Sunday, June 21 | Juneteenth Sunday | Outdoor Worship!

We explore what it means to believe in a God of liberation and justice. When confronted with the reality of our history and the challenges of our current national climate, what does it mean to be created in the image of God? How does our understanding of God lead us to be on the side of justice, liberation, and reconciliation? What does it mean to believe in God that sets the captives free and lifts the bonds of the oppressed?

Readings: Isaiah 61:1 | Psalm 146:7-9 | Exodus 3:7-8 | Galatians 5:1

WEEK 5 | Sunday, June 28 | Differing Gifts and Abilities Sunday

We celebrate the gift and blessing of the special needs community within our midst. What have we learned about the nature of God from those in our community with special needs? How is the gift of diversity revealed in our siblings with special needs? How are we called to be better allies of those with special needs?

Readings: John 9:1-12 | Isaiah 35:1-10 | Matthew 11:2-6

WEEK 6 | Sunday, July 5 | We the People Sunday | Outdoor Worship!

We close the series on the occasion of our nation's 250th birthday with a question: what does it mean to live in a diverse nation, made in the diverse image of God? How do we recommit ourselves to embracing that diversity in our nation? How do we move forward together?

Readings: Acts 10:1-15 | Romans 3:21-31

Join us this summer as we worship, create, sing, and celebrate together.

All are welcome. Come as you are. 🧡

Friends are welcome to join us.

What We’ll Be Doing:
This summer, our high school group will travel to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for a week of service, connection, and fun. We’ll be partnering with Service Learning Camps, who will organize thoughtful, meaningful service opportunities for our group.

Similar to last year’s trip, we’ll have a healthy mix of:

  • Hands-on service work

The goal is to build relationships, grow in awareness, and experience faith through serving alongside one another.

Adult Leaders:
Pastor Kelli and Brian, along with 1–2 additional adult leaders

Cost:
Cost is TBD, with the goal of keeping it under $600.
All meals will be covered, except possibly meals during travel. One of the largest expenses is renting 12-passenger vans. If you have connections that could help reduce this cost, we’d love to hear from you.

Scholarships:
Full and partial scholarships are available as needed.

Group Size:

  • Minimum: 8 students (required to move forward with the trip)

  • Maximum: 26 students

Pre-Trip Retreat:
Before we leave, we’ll gather for a partial-day retreat to prepare for the trip, set expectations, and spend time building community. The date will be shared once scheduled.

Flexibility:
This trip is designed to be flexible. If a student is unable to attend the full week, they may sign up for the days they are able to join. Transportation to and from Sioux Falls for partial attendance will be the family’s responsibility.

Registration Deadline:
February 28, 2025

How to Register:

  • Complete the registration form

  • Submit a $100 deposit to the church

    • Pay by cash or check (please include a note)

    • Or pay online using the provided link (note: the link reflects last year’s form but will still track deposits correctly)

After February 28, families are responsible for their share of the trip cost, even if plans change. Refunds will be issued when possible, but once planning is underway, some costs cannot be recovered.

  • 9:15am – Sunday School. Children from Pre-K through 5th grade are invited to explore faith in engaging, age-appropriate classes.

    • On the first Sunday of each month, we also offer a special Infant/Toddler class at 9:15am.

  • 9:30am – Worship in the Sanctuary (and livestreamed). Join us for a vibrant service that blends traditional and contemporary music, rooted in grace and centered in Christ. Can’t make it in person? Watch live on YouTube and worship from wherever you are.

If you're new to Mount Calvary or are looking to connect with some of the newer faces at Mount Calvary, we'd love to have you join us for a welcome gathering! It's a chance to meet other new people, get to know our community, and learn more about our church.

We'll eat dinner together during Wednesday Night Supper (WNS) at 5-6pm and then meet in the Retreat Room at 6-6:30pm for introductions and an opportunity to share more about the congregation.

There will also be an opportunity to officially join Mount Calvary as a member if you're interested. No pressure, we simply want you to find some connection with one another and feel properly welcomed into this community. We'd love to see you there!

Youth Fundraiser Night at Culver's

Dine Out for a Good Cause: Culver's Fundraiser Night!

Hungry for dinner AND a reason to feel good about it? We've got you covered.

On Monday, April 7th from 5–7pm, head over to Culver's of Eagan and treat yourself, because 10% of every sale during that window goes directly to supporting Mount Calvary Lutheran Church's youth.

This summer, our kids are headed to camp and making the trip to Sioux Falls, and your butter burger is going to help get them there.

No special coupon needed. Just show up, eat something delicious, and know that your meal is doing something meaningful for a group of young people in your community.

Bring the family. Bring your coworkers. Bring your appetite. The more of you that come through those doors, the bigger the difference we make together.

Culver's of Eagan
3445 O'Leary Lane, Eagan, MN 55123
Tuesday, April 7th at 5:00–7:00pm
Valid only at this Culver's location during the event window.

See you there!
